Athens, 19 December 2017 — ARTWORKS, a new organisation that aims to offer financial support to artists between 25 and 35 years old and encourage their professional development, commences its activity today. The project is supported with a founding donation by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), as part of the Recharging the Youth Initiative.
The first SNF Artist Fellowship Program by ARTWORKS will support 60 artists for a duration of six months, and is addressed to artists who are active in one of the following fields:
Visual arts: painting, sculpture, engraving, photography, installation, performance, video art, multiple and new media, digital art.
Moving image: fiction, documentary, animation.

Each Fellow will receive a 6,000€ award and will be able to participate in seminars, workshops and masterclasses with art professionals and experts, in the interest of exchanging ideas and expertise.
Over time, ARTWORKS is aiming to build a dynamic network among participating artists that will facilitate their progress even after their participation in the Programme. It also aims to develop collaborations with other institutions and organisations of the cultural community, which could provide new opportunities to artists so that they can expand their artistic activity in Greece and abroad.
Applications for the Programme's first round will begin on 5 January and conclude on 26 January 2018. Interested artists can seek further information on www.art-works.gr as well as on the ARTWORKS facebook page.
