We can't stay away from zines! And we can't stay away from publishing either. This is why we're very excited to be participating in Tourlou Zine Fest again this weekend. Completely self-organised and without any curation or application process, Tourlou Zine Fest is an open space for self-publishers and their friends to showcase their work and meet each other.
For the festival, we have collaborated with Athens-based graphic designer and illustrator Solo Diver to create a brand new zine specially for the occasion. Our publication is a recap of all the gloomy and demoralising events that took place in Greece since March 2020, when the first Covid-19 lockdown was imposed. Reading this will not make you happy: think of lists of femicides, forest fires, corrupt politicians, police violence incidents and fascists rising in power. This is why we decided to call our zine ZOFOS, which means gloom in Greek.
The first edition of Tourlou Zine Fest was last June, and it was a huge success amongst the community. The second edition, which is coming up tomorrow, is set to be even bigger. If you're an independent publisher, printer, illustrator or zinester, bring your own table and join the fun. If you love zines and rogue publications of any kind, make sure you come and say hi. We'll be happy to see you there!
