When its international residency programme had to be cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, Snehta Residency in Athens welcomed a group of local artists instead. The Median residency was initiated in March 2020 with artists Alexandros Kaklamanos, Dimitra Kousteridou and Valia Papastamou, who adapted their studio practice to the new conditions brought about by the lockdowns in Greece.
The residency now concludes with a group exhibition at Snehta’s two spaces, where the three residents are presenting the results of their research in the windowfronts. Kaklamanos has created a sculptural installation using readymade elements that is inspired by Ancient Greek iconography, and Kousteridou will be presenting objects created in the studio using acrylics, ceramics, performance and sound. Papastamou meanwhile will be showing a work made of online discussions printed on blue fabric, presented with an audio element.
There will be no regular opening to the exhibition, but the artists will unveil their works tomorrow Monday 22 March from 17:00. Visitors will be able to see the exhibition from the street.
