Βγαίνοντας (Exiting) is a participatory project by Antwerp-based visual artist Yorgos Maraziotis, which is taking place in three neighbourhoods of Thessaloniki in collaboration with local non-profit PERA. The artist will lead three interactive walks in the streets of Ano Poli, Toumpa and Ksirokrini together with local residents in order to explore how we inhabit our cities today and discuss about them. These peripatetic conversations will be documented by the artist; then, in collaboration with the participants, they will form the basis of texts that will be reproduced in printed format and placed in various locations throughout Thessaloniki. The starting point for each walk is each of the three "Neighbourhood's Rooms" in the aforementioned areas. These are social spaces operated by the non-profit Neighbourhood's Room, where anyone can use the space and its equipment to work, organise events and workshops and socialise.

About the artist
Born in 1984 in Athens, Yorgos Maraziotis uses various media such as sculpture, installation, publications and often works in thematic series. He is a member of the participatory-art group November and the curatorial organisation AthenSyn. His work has been exhibited in galleries, art institutions and museums such as Marres House for Contemporary Culture Maastricht, Museum Tinguely Basel, AC Institute NYC, Box Freiraum Berlin, 7 Thessaloniki Biennale of Contemporary Art, School of Visual Arts NY, Royal Academy Antwerp, CICA Museum South Korea, Matadero Madrid and Benaki Museum Athens, among others. He has been a resident artist at MASS MoCA (MA, USA). He lives and works in Antwerp. maraziotis.com
